Petter Krus has a background from fluid and mechanical systems technology, specifically focusing on system dynamics, control and system simulation and optimization. He has also worked as a professor in Machine Design where the scope was widened into computational design methods. This includes; optimization methods for engineering problems, especially based on system modelling and simulation; methods for requirements management and functional decomposition and traceability in the design, design theory of "computational design", with applications in aircraft design. Since his return to the division for Fluid and Mechatronic Systems, Flumes, the research has been more on mobile hydraulic systems and components with emphasize on energy efficient systems, aircraft systems, design methods, and modelling and simulation, leading to the development of the all new version of the HOPSAN simulation package.
